Postbird is designed for people who want the convenience of Gmail with the feel of a desktop application. Your inbox, conversations, folders, and labels are presented in a familiar three-panel layout that stays out of your way.
Multiple accounts, one app
Connect more than one Google account and switch between them whenever you need to. Each account remains separate and is accessed only after you approve Google’s permission screen.
Conversations that make sense
Related messages are grouped into a single conversation. The newest message appears first, while earlier replies remain neatly collapsed until you need them.
Mail that is ready when you are
Postbird keeps a local inbox cache so existing messages appear quickly at launch. While the app is open, it checks quietly for new mail in the background.
Everything you expect from an email client
Read and search mail, work with Gmail labels, archive conversations, mark messages read or unread, star important mail, move messages to Trash, send attachments, save drafts, and compose formatted messages.
Built with privacy in mind
Postbird connects directly from your computer to Google’s Gmail API. There is no Postbird cloud service receiving or storing your mailbox. OAuth tokens are stored using your Linux system keyring, while cached mail remains on your own computer.
Postbird requests access to Gmail so it can show and manage mail on your behalf. It uses that access only for the email features you choose to use in the app. Postbird does not sell Gmail data, use it for advertising, or use it to train artificial-intelligence models.

Postbird’s source code is publicly available, so its behavior can be reviewed by users and contributors.
Requirements
Postbird is currently available for Linux. A Google account and browser access for Google’s secure sign-in and authorization process are required.
